Youth Camp 2013 Days 2 and 3

Dec. 27 – Most campers woke up early the next day. Excited lang? We energetically prepared ourselves for the different activities waiting for us. We started our day with morning devotion and exercise. Galaw-galaw baka ma-stroke! Our delicious amoy palang nakakagutom na breakfast were prepared by the members of WOW (Women of Worship). Morning devotion by councilors and counselees followed. Then, Pastor Eugene preached about “Life” during the morning session. Sister Nieves gave a talk regarding getting out of one’s shell and discovering our identities.

In the afternoon, Brother Jason and I tested each team’s wits and wisdom in the quizzes. Nagkaalaman na kung sino ang nagbabasa ng program at nakikinig sa preaching. All of the teams were competitive, intense ang labanan!  After this, everyone enjoyed the super hair-raising oh-so-Amazing Race. The team’s unity, athletic and mathematical skills, taste buds, wit, and speed in the seven stations were tested. Kanya-kanyang diskarte para manalo lang ang kanilang team, may nag-ala Spiderman at Michael Jordan pa nga! In the evening, our tired bodies were recharged when we ate our sumptuous dinner.

Amazing Race, ano brother mapait ba?
Amazing Race, shoot lang nang shoot!

Amazing Race, mabigat ba si ate?
Amazing Race, pyramid formation

For the evening session, Pastor Eugene’s preaching is about “Darkness.” Then, selected youth and councilors performed a special number, an interpretative dance. That night each group showcased their artistic side in writing an original song composition and performing ala teleserye sa haba na drama. Everyone’s hidden talents were discovered. It was indeed a funny and heart-touching evening. After this, evening devotion followed. We all slept with joy in our hearts and smile on faces. Lights off!

Dec. 28 – Whoah! It is already the third and last day of our camp. Time really flies fast when you’re having fun. For the last contest, every team competed in the human video-mime presentation. Then, Pastor Eugene preached about “Light.” And for the morning’s main event - twenty-four individuals accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior and followed Him in water baptism. Twenty-one youth from BCI Marikina and three from BCI Angono were baptized. What a good news!

It was a close fight between the remaining teams but Team Light emerged as the overall champion

Mr. and Ms. Camper 2013

We are THE CHAMPION my friends! And we'll keep on fighting till the end.

Although not all of us are champions, I believe that everybody were already a winner. We gained lots of memories, experiences, learnings and new friends in this camp and that’s what matters most.

To the owner of the campsite, we send our gratitude. To WOW who cooked our food, thank you for preparing our meals with love. To AMEN, thank you for your nightly rounds and efforts in ensuring the camp’s security. To the judges in the different contests, thank you. To the councilors and assistant councilors, thank you for guiding other campers when it comes to devotion. To everyone who gave their support and prayers for the success of this camp, a BIG thank you!  And most of all, to Lord God our Savior, thank you for giving us the opportunity to experience this kind of fellowship. Campers, see you next year!
