Youth Assembly: Five Love Languages

Last August 24, a youth assembly was held entitled, "Five Love Languages." It is based from the book with the same title by Dr. Gary Chapman. Eighty youth and young professionals from Marikina, Cogeo and San Mateo attended the said event. The program was hosted by Ate Sassy Recerone, Ate Nica Salva and Ate Ariane De Guzman. Selected Gratitude members, kuya Denden, kuya Dan, kuya Kyle, kuya MJ, ate Hany, ate Sassy, and ate Nica, gave an acoustic song number. Kuya Son facilitated the charades game where every one enjoyed acting out each words.

Pastor Russell is the speaker that afternoon. He divided the discussion into two parts; Understanding the Ways of the Youth and Unveiling the word of the Youth. Stay tuned for part two that will be discussed next month. That afternoon, he discussed about "love" as the most fundamental building block of the parent-youth relationship.

Romans 5:8King James Version (KJV)
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Prayer Mountain

Pastor Russell Coles, seventeen members of YES (Youth Enjoying Service) to Christ and fourteen students from Campus Ministry went to Touch of Glory Prayer Mountain in Antipolo, Rizal last August 21, 2014. The place is surrounded by trees and sitting around gazing at nowhere will put your mind at ease.

The program started with a devotion, from Jeremiah 33:3, led by Brother Paulo Briones. He talked about the importance individual prayer in the young people's lives. After the lunch fellowship, everyone was given a free time to have a one-on-one prayer time with God. They went to individual prayer cells that could be found below the conference room.

Jeremiah 33:3King James Version (KJV)

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

After that, they gathered and each students from the Campus Ministry shared their testimonies. Some shared about their life before they accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, the problems they experienced and are experiencing right now and how He blesses their lives as new Christians.

As young people, it is important to know the importance of prayer in our lives.
We hope that more young people could come next time!

WOW Bonding at Laguna

Hi brothers and sisters in Christ! How did you spend your holiday last August 21? Our busy mothers, members of Women of Worship (WOW), went to Villa Rufina Resort at Pansol, Laguna to relax, reflect and celebrate the birthdays of August celebrants. The resort is clean, spacious and have a majestic view of Mt. Makiling at the background. Perfect for family bonding and fellowships!

After their morning devotion, they exercised and played parlor games. They also cooked and ate lots of food, laughed hard, swam, and shared stories with each other all day. See the pictures below.

We hope that more mothers will be able to join next time!

Childrens' Assembly

Last August 9, 16 and 23, the C.A.R.E ministry held a children's assembly in different communities around Marikina and San Mateo area with the aim of reaching out to the kids residing in those places. We visited Concepcion, Fortune and Buntong Palay respectively. Around 120 children participated in the said event.

Each program is started with a prayer and then followed by singing action songs led by Ate Sharon. After this, there is a story-telling by Pastor Russell (Concepcion) and Pastor Eugene (Parang and Buntong Palay). Pastor Russell shared the life of Timothy as an obedient boy to his mother and grandmother. Pastor Eugene shared the story of how a young boy with 5 breads and 2 fishes became a hero by sharing his foods to feed thousands of people. Both stories are aiming to teach the children how to share Jesus Christ with their friends and classmates. Then, some children also gave a special number. Beginners, primary, and juniors all had a good time playing Trip to Jerusalem, Arrange Yourselves and the Boat is Sinking. We quenched our thirst by drinking ice cold juice and eating yummy bread after the program. Plus the kids are able to take home bags of goodies.

We want to extend our appreciation to everyone who gave their time and talent to make this event happen. To the volunteer teachers, youth and to those who let us use their houses as our venue, thank you! See you next time! To God be the Glory.
